Super Cute Felt Animals

posted in: Books | 0

I’ve been doing lots of stitching with felt over the past several months and was thrilled to be able to review the book Super Cute Felt Animals by Laura Howard.  Laura runs the website Bugs and Fishes and I’ve been a regular reader there for a long time.  She admits she is a crafter who is obsessed with creating things from felt.

This is a well laid out book with colourful illustrations, easy to follow step by step instructions, and good templates.

The day the book arrived in the mail our granddaughter was here and we had a wonderful time looking through the book and picking out animals I would make for her.  She chose a cat and dog.

The illustrations are so appealing to the young and the young at heart.  There is an easy to follow stitch guide at the beginning and some great hints from Laura about stitching with felt.

Then it was time for me to trace the patterns, sort through my felt, and get out my stitching tools … needles and scissors, and get ready to sew.  I keep the projects in a small ziplock bag and will pull out a bag to work on while watching my favourite British show, Coronation Street.

As usual for all my other felt critters I’ve added googly eyes.  These were fun little animals to stitch.  You can see some of the other felt critters I”ve made from other websites and patterns.

If you are looking for a lovely book as a gift for a crafter on your list, this is the perfect one. Super Cute Felt Animals can purchased from Amazon.com or the Book Depository, And be sure to get a copy for yourself so you can stitch the cutest little felt animals.  Our granddaughter is just learning to sew and once she masters the art of sewing this will be the perfect book for her to have.

Be sure to visit the website Bugs and Fishes and see all the creative ideas that Laura shares.  She has lots of free crafty tutorials on her site.
