Do you enjoy a good cup of tea? and a mystery to solve? You will really enjoy the Tea Shop Mysteries by Laura Childs.
I love these sort of cozy mystery books with characters you feel you get to know, with settings that you can easily visualize and imagine yourself in and the inclusion of recipes at the back of the book. I’m sharing some of the books I’ve read in this series of 23 books.
They feature Theodosia Browning, also know as Theo, and her Indigo Tea Shop. Characters in this series that are in all the books are Drayton Conneley (tea master), Hayley Parker (amazing chef), Delaine Dish (Theo’s friend), Jory Davis, Detective Bert Tidwell and Earl Grey (Theo’s dog). There are other recurring characters that pop up in various books as well.
Shades of Earl Grey is the third book in the series, and right away from the title you know that Theo’s dog, Earl Grey, will play an important role in this mystery.
There is a big engagement soiree for Delaine’s niece going on and the Charleston society have been invited and for once Theodosia does not have to cater to the event but can attend and enjoy. But early in the evening a freak accident happens and the groom dies. At the same time the valuable wedding ring that was on display vanishes. Was this a robbery that went wrong? As the next few days go by there are other valuable items missing from other events and locations. Theo has her suspicions and concludes all the thefts are connected.
During a candlelight concert organized by Delanie a prominent citizen is found dead and Theo is asked to help investigate. There are shady politics, paybacks and much more which happens in Blood Orange Brewing, the 7th book in the series.
Dragonwell Dead is set in the springtime. There is lots of tea talk and food discussion. During an orchid display Theo’s friend Mark has a fatal heart attack, and his wife suspects he has been poisoned. Theo puts together a list of suspects and starts investigating.
Delaine asks Theo to be a bridesmaid in Sweet Tea Revenge. A lot of things go wrong – the weather, people being late, and of course a murder. This murder is the groom. Is there a cold blooded murderer who could be looking for another victim.
It would be a delight to visit a tea shop like this, without all the murder of course. So many kinds of tea to try, so many delicacies to nibble on, so many little tea treasures to browse though and purchase.

These are the kind of mystery books I enjoy Linda.

Hi Linda,
I love these books and came upon them at a thrift store back home in Iowa. It was a series of them. I read them all and could not find that she had written any new ones. I would love to go to a tea shop like this. Also I have to laugh at Drayton and how he knows his tea. I am going to look up the list of books I have read and see if any that she has written since I read the series are not on the list.
These are my kind of books.
Take care and be safe

I’ve still got some to read in the series Vondean. The latest was written in 2021, Twisted Tea Christmas. So many books, so little time. Though I have read lots during all the lockdowns we have had lately. Have a great day.
