For my birthday I received this lovely whimsical hanging mesh bird feeder. As that was back in March it has been hanging in the third bedroom, which is also my sewing room. A few weeks ago I got it hanging in one of the cedar trees so that it is visible from the deck.
The top of the feeder has a metal cut out bird and it has been decorated with goldfinches, bugs and other nature items. So it was very fitting that the first birds to find and enjoy this feeder were the goldfinches.
At first they were a bit skeptical and just perched on the sides of the feeder.
But it didn’t take them long to get inside, especially once the seed was starting to be eaten up and the only way to get it was to get right inside.
Then along came the white crowned sparrows and the cowbirds to get in on the action. I always think their black and white heads looks like they are wearing little bike helmets.
It’s a great little feeder and very easy to fill up, which is quite frequently. I’ve come up with a way to make one of these feeders from some dollar store items and some bits and pieces that were in the garage. I’ll be sharing it soon.
I’m sharing with I’d Rather B Birdin’ and Saturday’s Critters.
