Crafts: Sea Glass Flowers

I adapted an idea for bottle cap flowers and made some magnetic sea glass flowers using up lots of white sea glass I have collected over the years.

I have a can opener that removes the lids so that neither the lid or tin aren’t sharp. This makes the perfect base for the magnetic flowers. If you don’t have a can opener like this, the inner lids of a canning jar lid work perfectly too.

I sorted similar sized bits of sea glass collected at the glass beach in Sidney BC. Using E600 glue I added an outer row of sea glass petals and let it dry.

Then I added another layer or two of petals and added a piece of sea glass for the center of the flower.

Once completely dry I flipped the flower over and glued some magnets to the lids. One of the lids had a rim, so needed a couple of pieces of sea glass to raise up the magnets.

I made three flowers to add to the mailbox out front.
