The easing of restrictions in our area during the covid pandemic has meant we have been able to venture a short way from home, but still within easy driving distance. So over the last couple of weeks in June we visited our local favourites.
On a lovely clear day in June we visited one of our favourite places about 25 minutes from home. At Wellington Beach we walk the boardwalk, enjoy the smells and sounds of the water, and of course take lots of photos.
A visit to Wicklow Beach is always a treat and it is a great place to pick up a few stones for my rock painting.
We explored a new beach area for us at the Cobourg West Beach.
A large gathering of Canada Geese enjoyed the water in a quiet spot at one end of the beach.
A visit to the Ecology Garden is always a must for us. You can walk the shady paths and enjoy all sorts of natural gardens, interesting garden art, and talk with friendly volunteers.
I just love the creative way an old tree has been transformed into a giant rabbit. We didn’t see any residents at the martin houses on this visit. Maybe next time.
The places we love to go to for daycations aren’t those ones that are packed with tourists. We love quiet areas where we can listen to the water, walk a stony beach, and watch the wildlife and enjoy Nature.
Stay local, enjoy local, you just might be surprised at what you discover. Support the local economy, which is really important during these times.
Have you been able to visit a favourite local place?

3 beaches in one day! Lucky you. Lovely photos.

Three beaches in 3 different days. We are so fortunate to have them all very close by.
Linda
How lovely to have so much beauty on your doorstep, I don’t think I would want to go far with all that near by. I would love to see some of your painted stones. 🙂 xx

Hi Linda, there are a few links on my page and in the post that take you to my painted rocks. This one should take you directly there, hope it comes through okay on the comment reply.

We are so lucky to have all these areas so close by, and we have lots more. Such a gorgeous area that we live in.
Linda
Thanks Linda they are lovely, you must have a very steady hand and lots of patience, I’m just painting them and then sticking numbers and letters on them because my own writing looks awful but I have tried a decoupage one and will probably make others I’m loving it! watch this space, I’ll probably keep looking back at yours for inspiration. xx

I just take my time when painting rocks, and if I make a mistake, I can easily paint over it and start again. Looking forward to seeing the rocks you make for your grandson.

I really like quiet beaches! A lovely post.
Crafty Gardener
Quiet beaches are the only ones we go to, not interested in swimming or sun bathing anymore, just love to listen to the sounds of the water and hunt for beach glass and spot water birds.
Margie
Looks like you had those beaches to yourselves!
I’m still staying close to home these days.
Crafty Gardener
The beaches we go to aren’t the popular ones, and we rarely see others out walking. We are so lucky these places are really close to home.

We sure are Robin, Wellington is one of our favourite beaches to go to. Lovely and quite and a great place to hide my painted rocks.

The beach visits were really special this time Veronica as we have been at home for so long, it was wonderful to get out and enjoy the fresh air and scenery. Thanks for visiting.

Sounds like what we have been doing in Bellingham. We’ve gone to several parks since March, but like the little one on a bluff overlooking Bellingham Bay. It is uncrowded, has a nice grassy area where we can set up our chairs to enjoy the sun (our clouds) and read, and watch a train or two pass by heading north to Vancouver. Sometimes I wish I could hop on board and ride the rails back home. – Margy

The quiet places are the best places. Hope you get to return home soon.
