Canadian Pacific Holiday Train

The Canadian Pacific Holiday train stopped in Belleville on Saturday, November 29, 2014 and lots of local people turned out to see it.  This is the eleventh year the train has stopped here.

There are actually two trains that cross the country from east to west, travelling through Canada and parts of the USA over a span of three weeks.  We saw the train at 10 am but I would love to see it in the evening with all the lights shining brightly.

This is the longest North American food bank supporter.  Those that go to watch are asked to bring donations to the local food bank.  Our local fire department also collects donations for the food bank.

The train stopped at mile 91 on the Bayshore Trail … the perfect place for folks to gather and watch the entertainment in a converted boxcar.

…and this year the entertainment was by The Odds and Roxanne Potvin.

Of course Santa was there to accompany the group and he also mingled throughout the crowd talking with the children.

At the end of the performance a cheque was presented to The Gleaners the local food bank, in the amount of $7,000.00.

Be sure to take the opportunity to see the train if it stops at a location near you.

It’s time to share where we live with Our World Tuesday.
