In October the garden continues to move into the dormant stage for the upcoming winter. There is a wonderful showing of various colours.
On October 10 the colours from the front window were spectacular.
Hosta leaves turn varying shades of greens, yellows, and browns.
Gorgeous colours appear on the shrubs and trees in and around the garden.
We were treated to not one but two rainbows within a few days of each other. This is the first time I can ever remember seeing and documenting a rainbow from the north facing window about 7:15 and 7:30 in the mornings without a drop of rain in our area. This one was taken on October 12. The pot of gold was the glorious colours of the trees.
Now on October 17 some of the trees are already bare, especially the black walnut trees. A couple of windy and rainy days will do that and the ‘ber’ in October is really felt now.
The leaves are quickly falling from the popular trees at the back of the garden and creating a blanket over the back lawn. It will soon be time for the last cut of the grass for the season.
